The Humpty Dumpty Foundation helps hospitals and health services care for children by providing essential and often lifesaving medical equipment and initiatives that improve health outcomes.
In Australia, we are privileged to have an accessible public health system. Unfortunately, health budgets cannot meet the ever-growing demand for medical equipment. The right medical equipment can make a significant difference to the care children receive. It leads to a much better health outcome and, in some cases, even means life over death – particularly in more vulnerable and remote communities.
Children get sick all over Australia. In metropolitan areas, a hospital may be just down the road. But for regional and remote communities, the closest hospital could be many hours away. The right equipment, in the right place, at the right time, can mean a child receives care close to home instead of transferring to a larger facility.
It shouldn’t matter where you live, but sadly, it does. Around 28% of the Australian population lives in rural and remote communities. Babies and children living in these regions face higher rates of hospitalisation, injury and even death due to the challenges of their geographic location, including inaccessibility to the healthcare services they require.
At Humpty, we believe every Australian child should have access to the healthcare they need, no matter where they live. We work with health services to improve the capacity and capability of hospitals and healthcare workers to manage serious and life-threatening medical emergencies through a combined approach of medical equipment and health initiatives. Furthermore, two-thirds of equipment donated by Humpty goes to hospitals in rural and remote parts of Australia.
Humpty’s reach is now right across Australia, and we are working to respond to the ever-increasing demands on our health system. In doing so, we respect the diverse needs of the communities we serve while empowering our frontline workers to help babies and children in their greatest time of need.
Each year, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation receives hundreds of submissions from hospitals and health services across Australia requesting a wide range of essential and specialised equipment to help them manage newborn and paediatric medical emergencies.
Through Humpty’s Wish List, we provide hospitals and health service centres with the medical equipment they so desperately need.
Humpty’s unique Wish List model is what sets us apart, giving donors complete choice and transparency in their giving, providing for communities close to their heart.
